About Mangal Mezze Grill
The idea behind Mangal
The Taskiran Family & The Iseni Family
Two families, one dream
Two families, one vision: to present Turkish cuisine just as it is lived at home. Not staged, not simplified, but authentic. The Taskiran and Iseni families wanted to create a place where hospitality isn’t just a concept, but a way of life. Where the fire takes center stage. Where plates are shared because it’s the right thing to do. Not because it happens to be trendy. What began as a conversation at the table is now Mangal: a restaurant in Saarbrücken that interprets Turkish food culture with respect and brings together people who want to stay. Two families. One fire. One table for all.

Trying authentic Turkish food for the first time? We'll make it easy
Who is behind Mangal?
Mangal Mezze Grill was developed and founded jointly by the Taşkıran and Iseni families. The managing partners are Volkan Taşkıran and Jaser Iseni, who worked together to develop the concept from the very beginning and brought it to life on Berlin Promenade in Saarbrücken. Esra Taşkıran and Arta Iseni are also partners in the company. Mangal is operated Mangal Jakan Betriebs GmbH.
Is Mangal available at other locations?
No. Mangal Mezze Grill is located only in Saarbrücken at Berliner Promenade 1-2. That is our only location.
What makes Mangal from other Turkish restaurants?
Mangal your typical Turkish restaurant. We combine authentic Turkish cuisine with a unique cocktail bar, an event concept, and a shared-dinner format—all under one roof. Dishes are served in the center of the table to be shared, and cocktails are specially crafted by our head bartender. This concept is unique to us in Saarbrücken—and likely unmatched anywhere else in Germany.
What does "Mangal" mean?
Mangal the Turkish word for barbecue—more specifically, a traditional charcoal grill that has been used in Turkish cuisine for centuries. An open metal basin, charcoal, meat directly over the embers. In Turkey, Mangal , the Mangal is more than just a cooking technique—it is a social ritual. People gather, wait together, and share. The name actually sums up our concept perfectly: the fire takes center stage, and a sense of community forms around it.
What does "authentic" mean at Mangal?
We present Turkish cuisine just as it’s enjoyed at home—genuine, warm, and meant to be shared. At the same time, we bridge the gap with the West: our dishes are authentic at their core but modern in their interpretation. Our team comes from Turkey and the Balkans and brings that culture with them. Here, hospitality isn’t something we teach—it’s simply part of who we are.
What makes this venue special?
Mangal right on the Saar River—with a view of the water and a big-city vibe in the heart of Saarbrücken. The interior has a stylish and lively atmosphere, while outside you have the Saar right in front of you. Before or after your meal, you can take a stroll along the river or head into the city center, which is just a few steps away. The location makes for an evening that’s more than just a restaurant visit.
